Low speeds?

[link to this post]

Hi

Any one having speed issues tonight (well over the last few days)

Sync is over 15 Meg, yet only getting around 3.5 Meg over all the speed testers. Normally get at least 10!

Just wondering

Ade

Certainly not all of AAISP is having poor speeds - I'm on FTTC & seeing 37Mbps down/8Mbps up ATM.

Your're very lucky. All the cabs round me have fibre apart from mine frown. The worse thing is my cab is 200 metres from the fibre spline.

That sucks!

You at least have decent sync on your ADSL line - I had 3500kbps until FTTC arrived (3 months late*) and that was with the SNRM driven down to 3dB or lower.

*Itself not too bad when you read the delays that others are having.

A couple of questions re your FTTC.

Did you order it prior to your cabinet being provisioned?

Did you have one or two Openreach visits? I've read that after ordering they do a survey. Is that a paper exercise, or do they call and check anything prior to installation?

My exchange is currently getting FTTC, so I'm looking into the procedure.

Many thanks.

Cheers!

Day after - I asked my old ISP for a MAC on the day it went live but it took them 24hours to send it to me.

One

All went very smoothly, AM appointment slot. OR engineer turned up just before 9 (I hadn't even noticed the ADSL drop although it must have) and I had an FTTC connection by half past.

Thanks.

The new cabinets are going in, so will phone A&A tomorrow.

Looks like Openreach are putting in one new Fibre cabinet to serve two existing cabinets (about 100 metres apart) so I will contact A&A to get an order in tomorrow if I can - their website does not offer a FTTC option, possibly I'm too early.

Cheers!

Re your Openreach VDSL Modem, could I ask its overall size please?

I have my existing DrayTek mounted on a small vertical plywood board in our roof space adjacent to the NTE5 (a nice short direct run from where the dropwire enters through the facia board. Besides a new DrayTek or similar, I want to make sure that the VDSL Modem would also fit on this plywood board.

Thanks.

Cheers!
