Audio and video via HDMI to tv?

[link to this post]

Can I get a graphics card for my old desktop PC and then hook it up to my TV via HDMI to send both the video and audio to the tv?

Thanks

Probably, but if your old PC is AGP that may be a problem.

I had a HD3850 AGP and it didn't do hdmi audio whereas the PCIE version did.

I don't know if that applies to other cards or even radeons made by other companies (mine was sapphire).

I think there are / were AGP cards that included audio. Cables and plugs can be an issue too, many miss out the sound pins on DVI connectors / adaptors.

Does your tv not have a vga socket on the back , if so get a vga to vga lead and a 3.5mm to 3.5mm audio cable, its what I used to use on my laptop a long time ago.
