Sky Take Over And line Rental

[link to this post]

Presently Be is my ISP - but my phone line (and voice services) are supplied by BT. Is there any way Sky can take over my telephone line without my explicit instructions?

They could slam you but that is against the rules, and your existing line rental provider would be notified before it happened and they should contact you.

One precaution would be to make sure the email address on your BT account is not the one that goes through O2/Sky's mail system.

O2's email system is independent of their BB and is not subject to this buy-out. Any one with any mobile can have an O2 email.

Glad I'm not the only one that asked such a question.

Virgin (ADSL) => Namesco => Newnet => O2 => Plusnet => Zen => Newnet => Zen => Freeola => Vivaciti (using O2 Wholesale DSL) => Xilo (C&W Wholesale) => Xilo (O2 Wholesale)

Not true, about 10 years ago my folks were slammed by a rather large energy supplier (gas, electric and phone) and the first they heard of it was a bill coming through the door.

Virgin (ADSL) => Namesco => Newnet => O2 => Plusnet => Zen => Newnet => Zen => Freeola => Vivaciti (using O2 Wholesale DSL) => Xilo (C&W Wholesale) => Xilo (O2 Wholesale)

Thanks for all your input - seems wrong that such a practice (slamming) is not illegal.
