IP change with Virgin SuperHub (now in modem only mode)

[link to this post]

I've been using the quality monitor to keep an eye on my Virgin SuperHub, that had (until recently) been running satisfactorily. However, during March and these early few days of April, there have been frequent and sometimes lengthy disconnects. So, I've now set it to operate in 'modem only' mode with a separate router hooked up, which so far seems to have sorted things out.

It has meant though that my IP address has changed, I attempted to add a new quality monitor for the new IP address, but the capacity limit of the beta has been reached, so I'm unable to.

Is the capacity limit in terms of one per user? So, if I delete my old quality monitor, will I then be able to create a new one for the new IP address?

Thanks,

So far as I'm aware, yes.

On a general note, if your IP changes for any reason you should delete the old BQM. The reason is that if someone else is allocated that IP then your old results will show against their connection, which could cause confusion.

Or possibly alarm and despondency if it's like some I've seen!

the monitor mite not let you add one back if you remove one due to the limit

what you could do if you have only Just switched to modem only mode, to get the Same IP back is set the superhub back to router mode Copy the MAC address (should be on the connection uptime page) as thats what Virgin Semi/perm locks the IP to and use that MAC address on the router your using (switch it back to modem mode)

if it has been more then an week or 2 its unlikely you be able to get the old IP back as it be set to some one els router (the super hub will just get an new ip)

I thought you could have more than 1 BQM as I have 3 running.

You can, but the current beta ping monitor is out of capacity for everyone.

OK that's good, is there an limit on how many you can do, as i need to monitor an load of VM connections so i can get VM to fix are area (going back out now so not made an account yet)

OK i guess its some users are removing there BQM from there account (manged to get my 5th one on as it was constantly saying at the limit)

faster faster
