All RED!

[link to this post]

I am on a Mac with Safari. When running BQM, all's I receive is RED on the graph.

I have checked all of the suggestions as stated on the help page and all looks like it should work. But it doesn't.

Does anyone know any other checks I should make?

Cheers

If you've gone though everything in the FAQ and you're sure everything is correct then the only thing I can think of is that you're on a dynamic IP and it's changed since the BQM was first set up.

Who is your ISP?

(I may not be able to help- I don't know the entirety of which ISPs use dynamic IPs and which use static, but somebody will!)

What router hardware are you using too?

Later...

A thought occurred to me.

When you look at your BQM graph, below whatever title you have given it you will see the IP address that it's associated with.

Note it down, then click here to find out what your current IP actually is.

If the two are different then a dynamic IP is almost certainly the problem. Unfortunately, the BQM isn't yet able to cope with dynamic IPs frown

Bill

Apologies for slow response - I've been away for a couple of (very rainy) days.

My router is a Netgear 834GT and has the latest software installed
My ISP is ADSL VirginMedia which only has DHCP but I keep checking the IP address and all is OK.

I know it's not the end of the world if this monitor doesn't work for me but it is frustrating that there is a tool that I can't use whilst other people can!

Cheers

Is the router set to ignore incoming pings (IGMP requests)?

The default is often to discard pings which would stop the Quality Monitor from working.

Ex <n>ildram , been to SKY MAX - 15,225 Download
BE Unlimited - 21,000 Download 1,200 Upload,
Moved house, now BE Unlimited 6,500 Down, 1Mb/s up - gutted!
FTTC Cab installation commenced 12th April - expect full 80 / 20 - bye bye BE, hello BT Infinity soon!

Greenglide,

Yes, this is set correctly as per the router instruction.

Looks like I'll have to carry on dabbling.......
