A Virgin Media Capacity Issue??

[link to this post]

Hi all,

Am I looking at a network capacity issue with this or something else?

I am on Virgin Media 100Mb

Restart the SuperHub and see if it improves things, the fact it is not affecting average suggests it may be the hub not giving a high priority to ping responses

Hi Andrew,

I have restarted the Superhub previously (June 5), as you can see here

http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ping/share/a4e7221e2ea...

But it then returns as you can see here (June 7)

http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ping/share/044adac004a...

And I have no idea what happens around 10pm. Seems to have started since the bank holiday at the end of May!

I will obviously try a further restart and report back.

Many thanks

Sorry, guess I should have shared this graph too.

A snapshot of how it looked before the bank holiday

The green hump suggests you are doing something with the line perhaps, or that local congestion has got very bad.

The shared nature of the local segments on cable networks means the behaviour of others in your area as well as your own use has a greater bearing on latency, than for the various xDSL networks.

After reboot:

http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ping/share/a812062bd43...

There was some packet loss last night but I'm not seeing the 'hump' I had seen previously around 10pm. I was getting that each night around the same time! I wasn't using the network at the time.

I will continue to monitor but I guess it is to do with capacity in the area.

Many thanks for assistance.
