E-mail Issues Solved!

[link to this post]

Guys I have been watching a few threads on the BT support newsgroups and the users there have found the problem with sending mail. Here is the post by a user called Robert Jones.

Link to post

Apologies for the poor formatting had to print it to onenote and then from office to PDF. Need to get the printer installed

Also the reason this is a separate thread is to highlight the issue and how to resolve it rather than being lost in a large thread.

Yeah, quite a lot of users have been having the same issues.

From the long and short of it, Yahoo have changed their authentication which means they now require you to login and send everything using the FULL address e.g. john.doe@btinternet.com

If your sending e-mail from a domain e.g. john.doe@doe.net you need to go into your Yahoo account and change the settings which allow you to send mail from that address via webmail. This will allow you to start sending from that address again. Instructions should be in the original PDF doc.

there may still be another step required,
I found that the yahoo site for registering another send address folds mixed case Me@MyDomain.com to lower case only,
so (only tested outlook express but expect others to fail in same way)
the from address in outlook express may need to be changed if it uses mixed case

All e-mail addresses should be lower case for compatibility reasons but glad its been pointed out. Never thought of that.
