Link 2 BT hubs to increase wireless range

[link to this post]

I have a BT Hub 2.0, they are sending me another one this week because i took up a new deal.

Is there a way to make 2 hubs speak to each other when placed in different rooms and thus extending wireless range around the house - I have thick walls and coverage drops in one part of the house.

Even if it were possible with BT HH's, it's not a great idea, because you would have twice as much data trying to occupy the same wi-fi channel, and each link would have its own problems with drop outs etc. I've been there, and got the t-shirt. A better approach would be to have 2 Wireless Access points connected by a piece of good-ol' Cat5 smile

I used the second method, with homeplugs to link the two units, which is the preferred method since you have thick walls in the way.

there is no way to increase the wifi signal on the home hub verson 2. This is because of the inteligent people at Bt think that N range trasmit on the home hub would solve the problems of the old home hubs transmitting power. Your stuck with it apart from changing channel to 6 or 11 and checking the airels are attached securley inside the hub. Sorry couldnt help anymore

No need to worry about the range of the existing hubs - just bridge them like Jarviser's v. handy guides, and place either side of the Big Thick Wall, job done.

It's exactly what I do to get coverage across the whole house.

the only thing that you can do to help is lay cat 5 cable from one of the outputs and run it into a router with DHCP turned off. Plug in your ps3 or pc into this and its the easiest way to get around the lack of WDS

InSSIDer is very good for checking which wireless channel is least likely to get interference from others in the area.
