BT Broadband

[link to this post]

Hi
We are with BT for broadband option 3 & they have recently upgraded our exchange so we can now get a whopping 1.5Mbps! Unfortunately since then our internet connection has been dropping from approx 6pm till next morning. Have contacted BT who sorted it for 5 days (saying it was a problem at exchange) but it has since started again. Reported fault again to BT tonight who now say engineer has to come out, but not till next Wed! Just wondered if anyone on here might have ideas what problem could be? Any advise would be appreciated! Thank you.

I have had problems similar to you since I joined them last August. They wanted to send an engineer (for the third time) to my address but due to my hours at work I wouldnt be here until after 6 in the evening with only Sundays off. This will continue until April so the BT guy just said not a lot we can do until then and that my speeds would remain until and engineer got here. I promptly demanded a MAC which to my surprise they have given me and state they are not charging me the early cancelation of my contract due to continuing issues with speed. I will wait on see with regards to that.

I wouldnt go near them for broadband or fibre no matter what the incentive was!

Cant blame retail for the fact that openreach engineers dont work the hours you need them, in reply to the op please post your router stats so we can give you some advice

my name has been changed to save me from more company disciplinary procedures.

whatever i say is my thoughts and not those of the company i work for

it is Bt 21CN, it is useless on line lines, one our exchange was updated i lost a fair bit off my sync speed and kept getting disconnected, they solved the disconnections, but i never got the sync back, that is why i moved to a LLU service, thankfully we now got a few to choose from,

Hi,

Firstyl can you post your router stats and Bt speed test result, then others more qualified or myself can help. Also look at the Bt help forums -http://community.bt.com/t5/BB-in-Home/bd-p/BBinHome

To post the full stats from your router-
For homehub - 192.168.1.254
Navigate to ADSL Settings or use the A-Z at the top right
Click on More Details and then post the results.
Run Bt speed tester and post the results from http://speedtester.bt.com/
