BT Infinity - off to a good start - no sync :(

[link to this post]

Anyone else have frequent sync issues with BT Infinity? I had mine installed less than a week ago, and woke up this morning to see the DSL light on the modem blinking away and the 'Broadband' LED on the hub orange. Various troubleshooting, all failed - rang the far away call centre and had remote line tests carried out.. all checked out.

So tomorrow there's an engineer coming out to have a look. Lucky there was going to be someone in already, else I'd have to be taking time off work to have an install of what I thought was one of BT's premier products troubleshooted.

So yeah.. should I expect more of this, or am I just unlucky?

There will be faults, ADSL when first rolled out in 2000 used to be switched off some nights for a few hours etc

Similar even years later as exchanges got their first LLU kit, you would see the first few having issues on each exchange. So until systems and wiring faults, dodgy kit are sorted out anything new carries a risk.

I accept there'd be teething problems, but if you're beta testing with live customers then the price should really reflect that.

I was an early adopter of ADSL - Nildram 512k for £58 a month blush and it just worked!

Heh! tongue

The BT Infinity price does reflect that. Compare with all other suppliers of Openreach FTTC.

Though to be serious it sounds like an Openreach problem not an BT Broadband one.

Turns out the modem was overheating because it was on the floor.. they've wall mounted it for me now.

Is there anyway to ditch these BT supplied modems?

Had Infinity for 4 days now it has been ok so far, the modem is on top of a bookcase. It does get warm but no worse than the Airport Extreme router on a shelf above.

Not sure I entirely agree when it can be had for £22.12 vs £28!
