BT Infinity - Capped?

[link to this post]

Hi everyone

I'm moving over from BE There (which has been extremely good) over the past 2-3 years in which i've been with them but could do with faster upload speeds.

I've heard from some people that BT Infinity caps the data at 50gb... and if you go over your limit, they charge £5 per GB. Is this true?

Thanks

There are two Infinity packages. The cheaper is 40GB allowance, the more expensive is Unlimited.

A look at this page might have saved you the post tongue. It is one click from the BT Home Page.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk
My domains, website and mail hosting - Tsohost. Internet connection - IDNet Home Starter Fibre. Live BQM.

Sorry, my bad. I worded the original post badly I guess.

What I meant to say was that despite it being an unlimited package... its not really 'unlimited'. I've heard they cap it at around 50 gig for the so-called unlimited deal.

Thanks mate - much appreciated.

How you find your package with BT? What service did you have before if you dont mind me asking. Are the speeds and your experiences (if any) with customer support been decent?

Cheers

As orly says, that's nonsense.

There used to be a 300GB FUP on it but that was removed a few months ago.

P2P is traffic managed pretty well at all times though, but in effect only slowed at busy times.

Had BT Broadband ADSL since 2003/2004. Would have had it sooner but for a rather long line that didn't work with ADSL before that time.

Started on 512k, then 1mbit, then 3.5/4mbit on ADSL2+ (long-ish line). Got FTTC as soon as it was available and had it installed for 15 months now.

BT have been pretty much flawless the entire time we've been with them.

What does an 'unlimited' usage allowance mean?
Our BT Total Broadband Option 3 and BT Infinity Option 2 products come with an unlimited usage allowance. This means that you can use the internet as much as you want and will never be charged for additional usage.

You well know that I reckon Infinity is the best FTTC for most people. But I don't think you can didpute that at times they slow down P2P. But not like the ISPs that kill it like O2.

I tend not to use bit torrent that often but when I do it usually runs at full whack or a reasonable pace (ie not crippled)

usenet is full speed ahead at all times.

When are you migrating to BT? wink
