Infinity evening slowdown and brief drops

[link to this post]

I've had Infinity since it became available to me in March. I'm not far from the cabinet and initially got download of around 38 Mbps all the time. Recently I've noticed that at weekends and in the evenings it slows to 23-26 Mbps (still a lot better than the 3 I got on ADSL!).

The most annoying thing is that from around 22:30 I get intermittent freezes, where pages won't load and the system tray icon shows no internet access. This only lasts a few seconds at a time but can be a real pain. Occasionally I've had pages taking several seconds to load as early as 20:30!

I'm using a wired connection so wireless interference is not an issue. I don't use P2P, nor do I leave Skype running.

Could these symptoms be caused by BT connecting too many people to the cabinet?

Not connecting too many to the cabinet - the fibre connections can cope with that, but more likely congestion elsewhere.

Do you have the TBB Broadband Quality Monitor running? Or are you able to run it - even for 24 hours to see if there are any odd spikes.

Infinity doesn't have a static IP, so he would need to be sure he didn't turn the HH off.

My domains, website and mail hosting - Tsohost. Internet connection - IDNet Home Starter Fibre. Live BQM.

Assuming you don't already know, because if you are you are being more than a little disingenuous, fancy a £50 bet?

If he's at work past 10 pm I'd be surprised. Will BT give the business line to private homes though? Bet's off!!

I live in N. Ireland and get exactly the same thing. The modem says it is still connected but no internet connection on the comp no browsing and kicked off my game due to no connection. Getting very annoying, only had infinity a couple of weeks and wish I had stayed with sky, al least I had no disconnects in months of service. Happens after 2230 and still happening at 0130ish when I give up.

I wasn't aware of it, but I've downloaded it now. Though we are not doing anything different at the times of the brief drops, just surfing and email (2 computers).
In answer to other posters, it's a home product smile And I never switch off the HH3 unless I have to!
