BT yahoo mail cancellation

[link to this post]

I kept my BT yahoo premium mail even though I switched broadband ISP from BT some years ago. I no longer need it, nor the monthly cost to keep it running.

I tried to cancel this service by telephoning the number provided on the BT website 0800 443 311 but was transferred from pillar to post all over what seemed to be their Indian call centre. However, my efforts to get it cancelled over the phone appears unsuccessful as BT still keep charging me.. I sent an email to btcare@bt.com with an order to cancel the service and asking for confirmation (to be on the safe side) a few days ago. I have yet to receive a confirmation.

I really don't see what else I can do (or should do, as this has taken up a lot of time to do a simple thing). Is it BT policy to not respond to btcare@bt.com emails? But they carry out instructions anyway?

Can anyone clarify please.

Thanks

Only this weekend I was looking to cancell my old BT email address, and though it's only a free service, the faq's on the BT site state your account is kept open with no option to cancel, though I don't know if this applies to a paid service.

I know you are trying to help, but I the page that opens from your link is a dud - see http://btydialup.custhelp.com/app/error/error_id/1 - In any case my email account is not considered PAYG. I have done as instructed to cancel my account and it has turned into a time-wasting run around. Hopefully someone from BT will take note of this. At least I have lodged it in the public domain so to speak as I do not feel confident that the billing will cease - I have already had an 'overdue' notice on my account after I had cancelled the service (if the Indian centre had done as I instructed and assured me).

I know the link goes nowhere, which was my point that I could not cancel. They do seem to want you to stay in the system whatever the account.

How can it? You must be able to terminate a paid service; you can't be expected to pay in perpetuity.

http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/12684... which leads to here and tells you to ring 0800 345 7310. If you have not tried that one already then worth a go.
