Problems up North?

[link to this post]

Hi

After over a month of great speeds from Infinity, suddenly today I am getting ..

454k down and 1.8m up (when I can get anything at all)

Most of the time the BT Beta checker gives a big fat ZERO ...

Nothing here has changed at all, just switched on as usual (10:30 am) and zilch ...

Anyone else having problems?

Or is this just a glitch in the matrix wink

Cheers,

Rob

Still very erratic at 15:20 ...

Ranging from big fat ZERO's to 5 megs down and 4.8 megs up

Most web pages taking many minutes to load. The tbb speed tester more than often hangs at around 20%. Sometimes the download test uses around a 1 meg file for testing, but I have seen it try a 45meg file!!! Shows how erratic it is.

Is there a general network problem?

Anyone?

Cheers,#

Rob

PS I have not changed anything ... but I am just about to go and re-start the HH3 and see if that fixes it.

Well, restarting everything has made little difference. Still getting a miserly 0-5megs down and 4megs up. Would seem there is a general networking problem somewhere.

Hopefully all wil be resolved at a later date.

Cheers,

Rob

Thanks Daniel, yes, I did see that - North West Manchester area ...

My BT connection thinks I am in Newcastle ... but actually in York!

Wierdly, if I do a speetest.net check, I get this:

http://speedtest.net/result/1650497762.png

which on a wireless g connection through 3 brick walls, is pretty good.

But tbb test gives me about 4.5 megs down and 4.7 megs up.

The bt beta site when running gives around 17megs down, but you can see there are patches of ZERO's as it goes ... bringing the average down.

Earlier I was getting a zero back from the BT beta tester, but I at least have some connectivity now.

I raised it with BT (India!), and they immediately escalted it ... they "seemed" to find a line fault and are "working on it for 4 hours now" and will call me tomorrow morning.

With the above stats you would think all is rosy, but connection to various sites is erratic ... and has been all day ... hence I suspect some more generic problem elsewhere.

Cheers,

Rob

I did a tbb Flash test around 15:00 (on IDNet) and got the expected 36/8+ Mbps, with a solid trace on Networx. Steeping Hill exchange, SOuth Manchester. So WBC itself is fine from here.

My domains, website and mail hosting - Tsohost. Internet connection - IDNet Home Starter Fibre. Live BQM.

HI Robertos,

Just did a tbb flash speed test, and got 20 megs down and 8 up ... (via my wireless g link). So, from that point of view all seems OK. This also squares with speedtest.net to/from Manchester.

The BT Lite tester just gave 20.95megs down ... so things seem back to normal now.

Timed at 18:35

So, networking gremlins or did the BT people actually do something? I suppose with all the installations going on, there may be odd issues now and then.

But, all seems well now again ...

Cheers,

Rob
