1st Sky now BT Fibre Mess

[link to this post]

It seems that that trying to get fibre installed at my home is going to be a nightmare.

1st ordered with Sky. Order accepted then 11 days later told sorry but the order cannot go ahead. Couldn't give any details nor any certainty that if i reordered the same would not happen.

So yesterday i placed my order with BT. They confirmed that i can have a line with a estimated 54/15 profile and that i would have NO downtime when switching over from Sky.

Checked my online order tracker today to see that they have cancelled my engineer visit. A 20 minute phone call later they are saying that for some unknown reason it won't accept my phone line and infinity order together. It was suggested that i switch to BT phone and adsl first then place my infinity order, to which i replied not a [censored] chance. So i am awaiting a call from their specialist team within the next 24/48 hours but if they cannot let me proceed with my combined order i will have to cancel frown

Sounds like the BT person you were dealing with failed to order the line with a Linked Order Number, (LORN), which when used with the Infinity order should cause a Simultaneous Provide, (SIM).

As I understand it, re the Sky order, they are simply not upgrading existing customers from LLU ADSL2+ to FTTC at the moment. Nor doing migrations in to FTTC from other ISPs. This could be a commercial or technical reason, I don't know. The technical reason would be a failure to get their computer system to process such orders yet.

It is also the case that not all Sky LLU-enabled exchanges have the necessary upgrade kit yet to accept FTTC connections.

Do you mean that sky are not upgrading customers on skys llu to skys fibre service?

I had sky unlimited LLU broadband and I have just upgraded to the sky fibre service no problems.

Could be they have had a backlash and changed their mind. Also read the next paragraph in my post, that may have been what early attempters met.

I ordered mine early on the 27th march. Installed around a week ago. Sky don't seem
to have this ordering process sorted out perfectly to say the least!

The 40/2 product they are taking existing customers, the 80/20 is only open to new customers.

At least that has been my understanding to date.
