BT Wi-fi App Woes

[link to this post]

Stupidly, I installed the BT Wi-fi App on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 without bothering to read the dire reviews on Google Play Store.

The old BTFon app worked well enough on my laptop so I assumed that this would too.

But it never connected to anything and crashed the OS every time I opened it so that the tab had to be restarted.

I had to uninstall it.

Do I even need the app to use BTFon, or whatever they call it now?

If not, how can I connect to hotspots when I'm out and about (I've opted in to the BTFon scheme)?

Use the web browser.

To do what? Go where?

How can the browser open any website without first having an internet connection?

The network is unsecured so you can connect to it over wifi. When you try and browse to anywhere, you will be directed to the BT Wifi login page, where you can enter your username and password.
