RouterStats for the BT Home Hub 3

[link to this post]

Hi Folks,

I've put a beta version of RouterStatsHub on my website. It's a cut-down, much modified version of RouterStats specifically for the Home Hub 3 (Type A and Type B). It won't work with any other router.

It's had very little testing outside of my own Home Hub and a couple of others so it's definitely a case of "try it and see". It is BETA so please only download it if you're comfortable with the basics, such as extracting zip files, creating folders and writing helpful bug reports ("It doesn't work" isn't really helpful).

It's designed for Windows (XP onwards) but it's a departure from the RouterStats philosophy in that it uses Internet Explorer's "engine" (rather than its own built-in engine) so it may or may not be possible to get it to run under Linux.

You'll find it at http://vwlowen.co.uk/RouterStatsHub/routerstatshub.htm

(It is free software so, hopefully, the TBB mods will find this post within the rules. Please delete if not)

John.

I don't believe your post breaks any rules. RS and RSL are recommended here on a regular basis.

I wonder if it will also work with the BT business hub?

From the limited amount of research I've done, I think the Business Hub is the same as the Home Hub 3 Type A so it would probably be worth a try.

I've just looked at your profile!

The BH3 is the same hardware as the HH but the firmware is different. I don't currently have one installed as it does not support VOIP termination. I will give it a try ... if I get the chance with a BH install.

Profile now up to date smile

Yes, I'd be interested to know if it works with the BH. If the firmware is too different, it won't stand much chance but it wouldn't do any harm to try.

Whoever wrote the HH firmware must be a frustrated script kiddie. Completely over-egged the security on the LAN access side!

Should this version work on BT HH 3 Fibre with Software version 4.7.5.1.83.8.94.1.11 (Type A)? so far I can access the BT HomeHub page but following through to Advanced settings/ broadband /Connection gives no joy.Does not even give time connected. Used RouterStats on Netgear routers ADSL 2+ with excellent results

I've had a report that version 1.0 doesn't work with a type A. I've added a link on my site to an earlier beta that has been confirmed to work with a type A.

At my exchange, fibre isn't given a date yet (although there is hope as the cabinets are starting to appear around the area) so I can't say from experience what the situation is. However, my understanding is that, with fibre, the stats are only obtainable from the OpenReach modem which doesn't have an accessible user interface without hacking. The Home Hub is really just acting as an ethernet router.

Hi,

Am on BT Infinity 80/20 fibre with HH3 type B.

Have downloaded, installed and logged in successfully but it doesn't appear to be recording/ registering.

It is showing 0 db & 0 kbps top right and router uptime is showing "aaa".

Should this work with a fibre connection or ADSL only?

Thanks
Jim

The line stats are for ADSL only and do not work for Infinity which is VDSL.
