"BT Infinity Option 2" vs "BT Infinity 2"

[link to this post]

Hi

I'm moving home and am signing up to BT Fibre. Could someone please explain the difference between "BT Infinity Option 2" and "BT Infinity 2".

From the BT website:
Unlimited Broadband and Calls with BT Infinity
BT Infinity Option 2 with up to 76Mb connection speeds, 19Mb upload speeds and an unlimited monthly usage allowance
Unlimited Evening & Weekend Calls to UK landlines after 7pm weekdays and weekends
Only £17.25 a month, plus line rental, on an 18 month contract

Compared to this:
Unlimited BT Infinity 2 + Calls
BT Infinity 2 with up to 76Mb connection speeds, 19Mb upload speeds and an unlimited monthly usage allowance
Unlimited Evening & Weekend Calls to UK landlines after 7pm weekdays and on the weekends
BT Family Protection parental controls
BT NetProtect Plus online security
Online storage
FREE for the first 3 months, £26 a month from month 4, plus line rental, on an 18 month contract

Is "BT Infinity Option 2" an older product with p2p shaping? I'd rather not be shaped. I don't care about the protection/online storage stuff.

Thanks

Pete

I wasn't aware "BT Infinity Option 2" was still available for sale. Where on the BT website do you see it listed?

I'm moving home, processing through myBT and it's giving me about 20 different options, "BT Infinity Option 2" being one of them. Looks like from the Broadband usage policy they shape p2p on "BT Infinity Option 2" . Is the shaping strictly only p2p? Will it affect online gaming in any way? Money is a little tight so maybe I can put up with it for the £9/month saving.

Sounds like you have somehow got to the products where old ones are showing.

If you are on an existing BT product that may be why, i.e. you can keep similar T&Cs or upgrade to the newer products with the newer T&Cs

The current product names are the ones we list at
http://www.thinkbroadband.com/isp/bt.html
i.e. Unlimited BT Infinity 2

Yes, I have a BT landline, with BE internet. Moving to a new house, and it's giving me the option to sign up to lots of different products.

Could anyone please comment on the p2p shaping? Will it affect online gaming in any way?

Not unless it goes wrong.
