Webpages hanging on Google

[link to this post]

Hi,

I don't know if this is a problem at my end, a problem with BT or a general problem but, for some time now, I've noticed webpages hanging half way through loading or not loading at all.

In every case, the google domain seems to be the culprit as here: http://vwlowen.co.uk/temp/wait4google/temp.htm which shows 4 or 5 'hangs' within the last few hours.

It's annoying because they're all embedded google links which, for the most part, serve no useful purpose to my browsing.

Anyone else seeing this? I'm using the BT DNS servers.

John.

I have been seeing hangs on youtube (have to load video pages twice for video to start playing).

google play has a hang before apps start downloading.

However I tested both these issues on other isp's and they both carried on occuring so whatever the cause of these 2 issues it isnt BT.

I suspect with google the way they are they have fiddled with something whih has affected connectivity. Their sites are effectivly in permamant beta status.

Thanks, it's useful to know I'm not the only one affected.

The problem, as I see it, is pretty-well every commercial website has some form of embedded google analytics or google advert-harvesting or google-snooping so, if google's servers are struggling to cope, the whole internet is going to suffer for services which most users don't actually want anyway!

Not just me then. Only on Google and a refresh loads instantly.

yeah its shame how much of the internet is infected with google now.

I seem to be the only person who doesnt run google embedded code on my sites. (apart from google competitors).

The amount of redirects that happen on sites now is way too common sadly, not just with google either.

For the issue at hand if you using something liek noscript in your browser you can block the google snooping which will speed up the browsing. Blocking analytics has a very nice affect.

I use ghostery which is quite powerful.

sorry I posted wrong info, when I use proxies the problem is gone.

Its also affecting my phone eg. google play works like [censored] at the moment.

on one of my phone's I will try to configure a proxy to see if it resolves google play issues which I expect it will.
