Mail via smtp.btiniternet.com is being blocked.

I run my own mail server, but relay through smtp.btinternet.com. I did this because some mail servers wont accept mail from an IP address that is dynamic.

Over the weekend I found that many mail was not being delivered. Nothing had changed my end, so this was all a bit confusing. Mail coming in was fine, but ,mail going out was blocked.

I eventually found out that I was getting:

Recipient address rejected: [L9] your ip 65.20.0.50 is listed on too many RBLs

Is this BTInternet being blocked because it is sending spam?

Any suggestions as to what to do now?

Use Google as a relay.

Nice idea, but google rewrites the email address to your gmail. Still worth a try until BT wake up to the support call I put in last night.

I meant as a quick fix. I use The Very Good Email Company as my Smart host. I try to avoid BT servers where possible.

Mostly done, yeah. The only thing which remains Yahoo is the webmail.

Thanks. I will try that and report back. Unfortunately I am in the day job right now and I don't permit ssh over the firewall, so it will be this evening.

But yeas, it could be the old domain name has changed.

I wonder: Do I have to reauthenticate all my home email addresses again?

No, the new CP smtp server seems to allow any "from" address without prior verification. In fact, this may be what is being abused and getting the servers blocklisted.

Thanks - This was the problem

Changed the name in main.cf, and in sasl_password, and rehased sasl_passwd and all seems to up and running again.

Many thanks for your help.
