BT Home Hub 5 modem mode

Does the device have a modem only mode? Engineer coming tomorrow but I want to use an Apple Airport Base Station for my router.

If it's a new Infinity install, tell him you want the Openreach modem please. It's supposed to be supplied up to 31 December.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,website and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 59.4/14.4Mbps @ 600m. - BQM

Thanks for the tip, yes new install.

Called BT Orders I'm being told engineer will not have an openreach modem to give out. I will cancel the order if I am unable to choose this option - see when he comes.

There have been quite a few posts, but in general if the user has wanted it they have got it. Have a browse/search here and in the Fibre forum.

Yes, personally I would be of the same attitude.

Currently you can get the Huawei VDSL modem on eBay for very little. (HG612).

Its not clear if this is legit, but it works.

As JC says, you can get a cheap HG612 from Ebay and use that. Line stats are available using the hacked firmware.

Couple of ex-Gurkhas turned up to do the install, no problems getting an Openreach modem. Installed new line and sockets with military precision - they didn't even want a cup of tea.
