BT Business Fibre

[link to this post]

Hi,

I'm currently on BT Infinity2, never have any issues and constantly get 75/18

If I move to a business account will I notice any difference in speed, throughput or performance during the day and in the evening / Weekends ?

I'll be going for the unlimited account (£5 extra) + Static IP Addresses. (£5.50)

Apart from the Static address etc, will I notice anything else ??

During the day I do a lot of p2p downloads of Linux distros and app images. Some of these are from our company servers, others from OpenSUSE, Centos, Ubuntu etc. Will that be an issue ?
Is p2p restricted and what sort of speeds should I expect to see during the day and in the evenings ? Currently I find p2p faster than ftp/http for downloading very large files.

The company I work for are looking to pay for this, so the cost isn't an issue.
(although I find it hard to understand why the same product costs more !)

Thanks

Peter

Read the "Things you need to know" at the bottom of this page.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 59.4/14.4Mbps @ 600m. - BQM

It's not the same product. Traffic is elevated through BTw network, service and repair agreement is superior, the sales, customer service and tech departments are different. P2P is throttled evenings and all day at weekends, usually tapers in. I don't know what exactly you mean by you find P2P faster than HTTP or FTP, this should not be the case generally - there are test files here on Thinkbroadband - you can see the throughput if you think you have an unexplained discrepancy.

I have a BT Business service and NEVER notice any slowdown. It gets hammered here 20 hours/day for both business and domestic use with no complaints. Yes there is the occasional glitch with a node falling over or latency increasing at night due to maintenance.

Customer Support is available 24 hours/day and is UK based.

Repair is Next Business Day.

There is a "guaranteed" minimum throughput of 80% of sync speed.

And if you upgrade from a Residential service that has time left in contract - you will not be penalised or have to pay for the remaining time.

Thanks for the replies.

Do you know what p2p speed are like during the day, evening and weekends ?
Currently during the day it's very fast, evenings and weekends are a no go. Just not us usable.

Any other things in need to be aware of ?

I don't know - very rarely used here and I don't use and P2P apps.

http://www2.bt.com/static/i/btretail/panretail/terms... says it is slowed on business but that is the only protocol that is. It cannot be worse than you have!

I have had Business Infinity for almost 2 year.
I have not noticed any slowdowns or throttles at any time.
