Who do you use for domain hosting and email?

[link to this post]

I am currently with PlusNet for ADSK+L which includes Web hosting for my own domain and e-mail accounts. FTTP is now available at my address but PlusNet cannot provision me without passing on a hefty change for excess construction despite me being within 20m of the manifold which is in a pavement chamber. So I have just placed an order with BT. If I transfer to BT (and this will still be dependent upon what they do about the excess charges) then I will need to move my domain and e-mails to an alternative provider (which is probably no bad thing anyway). So who do you recommend for domain hosing and email? I have about 15 e-mail addresses for various family members with a similar number of aliases.

15 separate mailboxes?

For a fair while now I've been very pleased with Tsohost, to a considerable degree because of the excellent support by phone/ticket/email.

The Standard Cloud Hosting fits your specification.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 58.7/14.6Mbps @ 600m. - BQM

No specific recommendations, but I do recommend you check the company's SMTP/POP3/IMAP settings before you sign up and ensure they support SSL/TLS, otherwise you will be sending your password across the 'net in plaintext which is never a good idea.

The above, for one, rules out 123-reg.

As PlusNet do not support SSL/TLS I would not be worse off if the new provider did not, but I take your point; improving security as part of the move would be a good thing.

Actually, looks like 123-reg have finally added SSL to their email servers: http://www.123-reg.co.uk/support/answers/Email-Clien...

However, I do have a slight preference for STARTTLS on SMTP over port 25/587 by virtue of it being more RFC compliant, but that's a personal thing. wink I do know that 1and1 use STARTTLS on SMTP over port 25/587, and the freebie providers (Gmail/Outlook/Yahoo) support it too.

Edit: thinkbroadband's affiliate redirect script breaks the above link

I've been using eUKhost for some years, as do a couple of friends. Been very happy with them. The support has always sorted any issue quickly and efficently
