Ipad wifi drop and hh5

[link to this post]

Hi all

Does anyone know if a fix is due to correct the wifi drop outs I keep getting on the hh5.

It will just stop downloading any data after around an hour. I upped the dhcp time and separated the wifi bands

All other devices apart from iOS devices are fine

Thanks

Did you select a channel manually for the separate bands or did you leave it on Smart wireless?

I've got an iPad Air and an ASUS RT-N66U router. (On Plusnet FTTC BT).

Connecting on 5GHz it is fine for the odd web page or so, but within minutes of starting to stream video it clogs up then very soon after it hangs (on the video) and doesn't want to know until you restart it.

On 2.4Ghz it is perfect.

I assume the problem is with the iPad, as I don't need to touch the router.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 57.1/14.8Mbps @ 600m. - IPv4BQM IPv6BQM

I had this issue for many months.... until I resolved this after some research!

Basically, the iPad does not like it when the SSID name is the same for 2.4Ghz *and* 5Ghz SSID.

I renamed the 5GHz SSID to something else and this resolved the issue. iPad now connects & download stuff quicker without delay/freezing/dropping connection.

Give it a go. smile

Hmmm. That sounds plausible, but my two SSIDs were, (for example), ABABAB and ABABAB5.

I might try some time using completely different strings.
