Well I just setup a DHCP Server on a very low powered PC on our LAN here and I have that server hand out internal IP's with their gateway and DNS List and disabled the DHCP on the HomeHub / Router/Modem and all works fine.

The DNS List consists of the following:
8.8.8.8
x.x.x.x
213.120.234.6
213.120.234.22
213.120.234.30

8.8.8.8 is one of Googles DNS Servers, x.x.x.x would be our own DNS Server, and the remaining 3 are BT's DNS Servers that I have seen our HH4 pickup so far.

But overall we have had no issues.

Do you have parental control (filtering) turned on?

Surely your own DNS should be at the top of the list? Otherwise, what's the point in hosting DNS locally ...
Why would you want to tell Google about every web address you visit anyway?
There are better alternatives and I agree, there is likely some form of content filtering forcing you to use BT DNS

Probably due to I haven't got around to changing the setting to put ours first.
Also the latency to google is lower that to our server hosting our DNS Server.

Also our DNS Server isn't local.

Does this confirm that you are using Google's DNS server? Should say something like this:

DNS server: 74.125.47.148 (Netherlands - Google)

Agreed.

Ours also says the same:
DNS server: 74.125.181.195 (Netherlands - Google)
