New BT Smart Hub - LOL!

[link to this post]

Registered my interest a few weeks ago for the BT Smart Hub.

Now I have got the email about it - if you want it, it's £9.65 a month on top of your existing price.

Oh, and you have to agree to a new 18 months contact!

Wat?

Interesting to see various prices... some get it for free, others get it for cheaper price.

Still... tenner a month on top of my (already expensive) package is a rip off, IMHO.

Also, do you really need it? The firmware on the HH5s is STILL not perfect, and it has been 3 years! It is likely to have a couple of teething issues.

When I spoke to BT yesterday they were clear that if I recontracted at the standard rate I could have a "free" smarthub, whilst if I got a discounted rate, I would have to pay £50 if I wanted it. The monthly difference was £110 ...
