Line attenuation

[link to this post]

Anybody know why the attenuation has jumped from around 23 to 35?
Connections. Speed has dropped from 52 as well.

DSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 49.00 Mbps 8.07 Mbps
Line Attenuation 22.40 dB 35.60 dB
Noise Margin 7.40 dB 6.40 dB

Using netgear nighthawk d7800

If your up attenuation has jumped from 22 to 35, what was your down attenuation at before now it is 22?

A 49 Mbps speed with a 7.4 dB margin would probably be around 53Mbps at 6 dB. So you may have had a burst of noise which knocked out some tomes and they have not been re-used at present hence the slightly lower speed.

I would guess that there has been an error in the interface at some point. If there is no significant change in either UP speed or margin then the only explanation would be a GUI error of some sort.

What you need is someone with a similar line to provide their figures so you can see which one is wrong.

Looks like you are running the BQM with a dynamic IP address. Not recommended. You reboot has changed the address.

What's a ping monitor got to do with attenuation anyway?

I don't have a static address, I just change the monitor when the ip changes. Just put the graph up for info for anyone interested in what it was like before the reboot which put the attenuation back to normal.

LOL
But it isn't any different from the one in your OP. Apart from being a live one so by midnight tonight will be solid red. Or blank if you delete it.

It doesn't show your pings after the reboot so tells us nothing. It would only be relevant if it showed a difference. Which would be nothing whatsoever to do with the attenuation change anyway.

If you included a new one showing it different then it may be of interest. Or it may be just the same again.
