Thanks William for your comments. Yes it is a bit of an odd one and I suspect it wonít last? Freebies are great of course. Anyway weíll see. I just checked my My BT app and yes it definitely says BT Infinity 1 up to 52 Mbps.
Found this in my event log, not sure if thatís when the speed increased but it is 23 hours DSL Uptime in 2 minutes so that would tally.

15:31:08, 27 Sep.
dsl:VDSL link Up: Down Rate=58700Kbps, Up Rate=16767Kbps, SNR Margin Down=0.00dB, SNR Margin Up=6.00dB

The sync profile allocated to specific ports is controlled by Openreach via the DSLAM associated to the cabinet.

Thanks Zarjaz, what do you think might have happened here then with my speed increase?

a) The wrong port got reconfigured for someone who ordered 76 Mbps variant
b) BT Consumer placed an upgrade order (who knows they might abandon 55/10 in 2018!)
c) The DSLAM port just got it wrong
d) A software bug caused an upgrade of port xyz to change settings for port abc

Its a case of so long as they don't change your product and price then look on it as a bit of spare bandwidth for the time it lasts. Chasing and asking things might get them to fix it, but in fixing it an increased chance of screwing up.

Thanks Andrew, I think I'll just leave it, no contacting BT. In the last week Kelly Communication and Openreach have been on my street near me, someone has probably got fibre, could be connected, could just be a coincidence?
Anyway I'll see how it goes and update on here if anything changes.

Just a thought ....

Have you checked you are receiving the correct telephone number on your landline ?

I never thought of that Zarjaz...just rang by mobile and to be doubly sure did 17070 and yes it is still the correct number on my landline.

Iíve had the same thing happen yesterday, download speed has gone from 51.44 to 67.59 and upload has gone from 9.24 to 18.59. Iím only paying for up to 52Mbps. They have been installing the g.fast kit at the cabinet in the last week. Wonder if that has anything to do with it?
