BT Hub 4 wifi range vs Hub 3?

[link to this post]

Has anyone tested the comparative wifi ranges of the Hub 4 and Hub 3? I've just upgraded my parents hub from 3 to 4 and the coverage doesn't seem as good as the Hub 3.

That would seem a tad unusual... the 3 was pants for wifi.

Get a 6, absolutely stonking wifi from mine.

I must of been just unlucky with my Smart Hub or I have lead walls due to Wi-Fi got half way down my hall way.

And if located in middle of the home it never reached the outer edges of the home, where as the Fritz!Boxe's and Linksys routers Wi-Fi are great.

Other than the Wi-Fi issues I did like the Modem / Router, but it did have loads of issues and bugs in it and not being able to report them apart from the FTTP Team on the phone and BTCare on Twitter, these issues never got fixed.

I have the channel set to Auto, so it should select the best?

In all honesty when the hub 4 came out this was a widely discussed concern and it boils down to the switch over to dual band technology, and 2.4ghz not being as strong so clients roam into the 5Ghz band.

The Hub 6 is a decent box, not sure why you got a Hub 4?!

Presumably you dont know which channel is the best.

Is this 2.4 GHz or 5GHz?

One trick is to split the bands by adding -5 to the SSID of the 5GHz band

No I have no idea which channel would be best. I didn't realise that it had 2.4 and 5Ghz - it is only broadcasting one SSID by default. Next time I'm there I'll try separating them out, then connecting to the 2.4GHz to see if it has better reach
