The line has been capped/banded by DLM.
Usually this sticks for many months or doesn't remove at all.

You could ask on the BT Community Forums for them to request a DLM reset for your line.
I'm not 100% but I think BT are 1 of the ISP's trialling this with OpenReach.

In the past it would require an OpenReach engineer to perform the DLM reset but most ISP's would not send an engineer for this.

How did you determine it was an exchange fault?

I asked because my connection has been rock solid for 5 years.

A few weeks ago the router lost connection several times in a day. The event log was some PPP termination req I havenít seen before.

There happen to be an orange cone outside the local ECI cab that day.

Since then Iíve been interleaved and lost nearly 10Mbps sync

Add some extra info - in my case the error logged in the WAN event log was

PPP LCP Send Termination Request [Peer not responding]

Never seen this before.

Happened around 1am.
