Lots of work going on in my village but what are they doing?

[link to this post]

Seem to have a awwfull lot of openreach vans in my village recently and ive seen a few on the way out of the village working down the lanes.

Apart from stopping and asking them what they are doing is there any way to find out what there doing?

My village is Rosliston and my exchange is Overseal if thats any help.

Thanks in advance.

Stop and ask politely and preferabbly when they are not up a ladder, down a hole.

Lol no I have to say I missed that one but although it seems nothing is confirmed in those news reports all the activity seems promising.

Thank you very much for the link.

Do you like local and if so do you know anything else about it?

I live in Swadlincote, I know most of the South Derbyshire area is getting upgraded, ie FTTC is coming in the next few months (on BT checkers etc now).

I hate to disappoint but that news article doesn't say anything about them upgrading the exchange to support Fibre (FTTC). It sounds like they are just upgrading it to 21CN based off the line:

"Come and live here, you can work from home and you’ve got 21st century technology"

This would just mean ADSL2+ which is of course better than nothing!

Not to sure tbh.

I spoke to a chap at a place where I used to work in the village and he says they are laying fibre optics as hes had them doing some work on his lines.

Tbh ill take anything but obviously fibre would be my first choice.

Seen loads of Open Reach vans around various cabs today in Swadlinocte, I hope it's the start of fitting FTTC in my area which will be live by December. I will jump ship once it's ready to order.
