speed test problems

[link to this post]

Guys,

I am trying to diagnose an ISP bandwidth issue on a friends BTw connection.

Using the current router login I ran a test from speedtest.bt.com, this ran successfully and gave 700Kbps (8Mb sync, 7.x BRAS).

I waited 1 hour, then changed the router login to the speedtester@speedtest_domain login, this connected successfully and I could access the speedtest.bt.com and tried to run the test again, however get the message..

"You are using speedtester@speedtest_domain, for your initial speed test do not use a BT test account, please reconnect with your ISP provided login"

I cannot try this second test immediately after the first as it states I must leave an hour between tests...

where am I going wrong here?!

the current incarnation doesn't let you log in to the speedtester with a test login unless you failed the first test, I think.

I did read somewhere that you can get round it by putting www. in front of speedtester but that may be a myth.

MaxDSL - goes as fast as it can and doesn't read the line checker first.
