Do lines go through more than one cab on way back to excnge?

[link to this post]

Say i was 4km from exchange and my line is connected to a small cab that is only serving 10-20 houses, So it probably will not be upgraded for VDSL2, But is it possible my line goes though another cab on the way back to the exchange?

And if so, if that one is upgraded to VDSL2 then it would be available on my line?, even though its not the lines "main cab" so to speak ?

Secondary Connection Points (cabs) do exist - often in rural areas, for your outlined reason -, but even if the Primary cab was enabled, the strength of the VDSL2 signal would depend on the length of copper between the cabs.
Even so, I'm not entirely sure that SCPs can use a PCPs connection to a FTTC cab...hopefully an OR engineer will come along and clarify the situation.

Thanks for the reply.

Can you tell me if all of these are BT cabs ? And if so do they seem much to small to ever get FTTC?

Second one is the control unit for the level crossing/lights.

hmmm that's odd because there is no lights or a crossing there. Could be street lights i suppose?

EDIT: oh right you meant that street light pole. ok cool.

Are the other ones BT cabs?

Some lines go via a cab and a pillar.
Some lines go via a cab and another cab on an e to e jumper.
None of those pictures show BT plant.

Thanks. That is reassuring the fact none of those are cabs. My cab must be in a more populated area. Because the closest cab to me (that i know is defiantly a BT cab, is in a heavily housed area)

It is still 1000m to 1500m away though, what sort of VDSL2 speed do you get that far away generally ?

So between 60Meg and 33Meg, yes VDSL2 can go a lot faster than Openreach allow at present.
