BT bRAS profile vs real-world throughput

[link to this post]

Any ideas what real-world speeds can be expected for a given bRAS profile, such as from the online speed testers?

In other words, if the profile is at 2000kbps, what can you actually get? 2000kbps? 1950kbps? 1900kbps?

Apply the maths from here: http://aa.net.uk/kb-broadband-how-atm.html and you'll have your answer.

Now on <aaisp.net> (21CN)
Previous ISPs: Virgin Media (50Mb/Cable), Be* Un Limited, ZeN
Is Linux routing your internet connection?
Need to make BIND geo-aware?

Try 83% of Sync Speed instead. Old-fashioned IP Profiles are too course; if you are top of their range more of your speed goes to waste. Modern 21CN WBC IP Profiles are more continuous at 88.2% of Sync and are more immediate.

Work out this way: Sync speed multiple 88.23% equal is your ip profile rate

Example:
Sync 17235 x 88.23% ->BT IP 15206->ISP IP 15200->Customer Throughput->14300

plusnetADSL2+15 Meg

In reply to a post by adslmax:
Sync 17235 x 88.23% ->BT IP 15206->ISP IP 15200->Customer Throughput->14300
Therefore Throughput = 83% Sync rule of thumb!
