ADSL2+ on my looong rural line - UPDATE

[link to this post]

I was due to move from ADSL Max to ADSL2+ today at my recently 21cn wbc upgraded exchange

According to modem stats my line was moved at 09:45 from alcatel to Infineon cct

My line has improved with a download speed moving from 720kbs to 1230kbs so good news there (both at 6db snr)

However, I'm still on ADSL rather than 2+

Is the upgrade still in progress or does it look likely BT are not moving me over?

Thanks

PS I know the risk I'm taking with ADSL2+ just need to try it

Were you told you were going to ADSL2+, or just your line was being upgraded to 21CN? In most cases everyone gets moved over to the new MSAN but left on ADSL, then some time later bulk upgrades are done when Openreach feel like it.

The ISP can get you upgraded earlier but it costs £11 the last I heard.

I was hoping to see the IP Profile from the BT test. That behaves differently. Probably doesn't matter though.

Download speed achieved during the test was - 0.9 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.8 Mbps-2 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 1.3 Mbps

Got a mod from the BT forum to put the order in for me and it was clear he had ordered that according to his email

I'll chase up with him but just wanted to know if I was jumping the gun

Maybe now I'm on the new cct ADSL2+ can be enable remotely by him

I have been on ADSL2+ connection for one month but have reverted to ADSL1 to avoid loss of sync every time the phone rings. So-far-so-good after 12 hours.

On the basis of only 3 speed tests the download speed is much as before at 3.4Mbps and the upload speed a little slower at 0.4 Mbps rather than 0.5Mbps.

I'll keep testing for the next few days and report back.

As to whether you have been changed, I had to change "Set Up" details in my router (Linksys WAG160N) from "ADSL2+" to "Multimode" in order to connect after the change back from ADSL2+.

I'm not sure but guess this applies to other routers.

Thanks

I did the round robin with 150 customer service and someone did say that I was on WBC but not ADSL2+ as it wasn't available (?)

Maybe when I can talk to the guy who put the order in for me I can jump the queue and get 2+

I have a 2Wire

From what I've googled so far, I think it should auto change to ADSL2+

Not if his connection is set at G.DMT at the MSAN.
