BTw to change ip profile rate next year

[link to this post]

One of my mate who work for BTwholesale had told me they are secret to roll out all 21CN of new ip profile rate to be changing from 88.2% to 94.2% once all the 20CN is phased out.

Can thinkbroadband please confirm if this is true ? If yes, we will benefit extra 1 Meg speed which it good news for all of us on ADSL2+.

Current 17499K with 88.2% = 15.4Mb
Future 17499K with 94.2% = 16.4Mb

That sounds unlikely. I don't think 20CN kit gets the 88.2% system anyway. I believe it has the old stepped one.

94.2% sounds more like the VDSL2 profiling on FTTC.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk
Domains,website and mail hosting - Tsohost. Connection - Plusnet Extra Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 56.0/13.9Mbps @ 600m.

Someone has confused the FTTC IP profile calculation and the ADSL2+ one I think more likely.

It will be in a SIN if you think there is something to it.

They're not phasing out all the 20CN.

88.2% includes ATM and Ethernet / TCP overheads, 94.2% is for non-ATM based systems like FTTC which run in packet transfer mode rather than ATM based virtual circuits. So the answer is probably "no".

At present no offficial end date has been announced, but the 20CN footprint will shrink particularly once the BDUK projects complete around 2015

The remaining 20CN exchanges now, rely on the removed kit from 21CN areas to provide spares

So it look like 94.2% only applied to FTTC only ?

20CN isn't being being phased out! frown

Perhaps you could ask 'your mate' to sort that out for us stuck in the last century tongue

Depend on your telephone exchange. Even thought I kept pressured on my mate to get FTTC at my local exchange, but he is not responsible of picking as he say BTw pick out of the hat draw of selecting exchanges in UK. But, he promise me that my exchange will have FTTC by the time in 2015. frown
