Can i request to be changed to adsl2/adsl2+ from adsl max

[link to this post]

I moved from sky to bt at the beginning of summer and i have lost my adsl upload speed in the process. I used to get about 800k upload speeds with sky, i now get about 400 due to being on adsl max. I am getting 5mb download speeds and this is the same as when i was on sky.

Basically as the subject says, can i request to have the technology changed for free?

WBC ADSL 2+ Up to 3.5 -- 2 to 6 Available
ADSL Max Up to 2.5 -- 1.5 to 5 Available
WBC Fixed Rate 2 -- -- Available
Fixed Rate 2 -- -- Available

The following services are available in your location:

BT Wholesale ADSL
BT Wholesale ADSL Max
BT Wholesale WBC (21CN)
AOL LLU
Bulldog LLU
TalkTalk (CPW) LLU
Sky Broadband / Easynet LLU

So it is available, but can does anyone know if i can be moved free of charge or at least at my request.

Yes it is.

I believe BT Retail, in its wisdom [cough], puts people on ADSL rather than ADSL2+ if their downstream estimate is much below 8Mbps. As well as that, they apply the 448kbps upstream cap - the 832kbps upstream is only available on their Business ADSL.

You will have to try getting a sensible response from their call centre. Or maybe the online BT forum and a BT_Care rep there would be easier.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,website and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 51.8/16.8Mbps @ 600m. - BQM

Excellent, i will contact them and hopefully get it upgraded. It's crazy that they provision the service like this nowadays.

Thank you both for your replies.
