BT Homes Passed With ADSL, ADSL2+, FTTC and FTTP

[link to this post]

Has anyone got any insight on this one?

I assume that there are around 29 Million Premesis in the UK

BT has around 100,000 homes(0.4%) passed with FTTP (Not including FTTod)
19 Million Homes passed with FTTC (66%)

Does that leave the rest (33%) with ADSL2+ as best technology passed or are some people still on regular ADSL?

Yes. Seen a few in these forums in the last couple of weeks.

Though one of them I think had just had TalkTalk LLU arrive at the exchange.

There are also quite a few exchanges where the lines can get FTTC, but not ADSL2+. (FTTC supplied from a nearby one).

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 58.7/14.6Mbps @ 600m. - BQM

GH22

Some of them have Virgin CATV this can be a significant number in cities where they would otherwise be on EO pairs with only ADSL2+, this could be as high as 10%.

There are aslo a number in rural areas where the best they can have is ADSL, ( No LLU no WBC) this applies to about 2000 exchanges but only about 5% of the premises.

This would leave about 18% with ADSL2+ as the best they could get.

It is likely that many or most Market1 exchanges are not ADSL2+/21CN enabled.

TalkTalk has ADSL2+ available to 96% of UK homes. It is the largest ADSL2+ network in the UK.

I'm still on ADSL Max. No ADSL2+, FTTC, LLU, Cable or 4G here.

Pretty annoying, they have enabled Fibre at the exchange but not done my cabinet and last time I checked, no plans to upgrade to 21CN i.e. ADSL2+.

You might imagine I would be in some remote village farm or whatever, but I actually live on a modern estate surrounded by properties on all sides. Demand would be through the roof for any provider that offered something better than standard ADSL.

FTTC will be getting fed from another exchange more than likely.

Plenty of premises in west Norfolk still on a up-to 8mb service and according to the BBFN website no sign of fibre!
