openreach says yes, BT say no

[link to this post]

A friend has poor DSL speeds and is hoping for FTTC.

http://www.superfast-openreach.co.uk/where-and-when/ - entering the number here states:

Status: Accepting orders

Good news. Your serving cabinet is enabled for fibre broadband.

However when we phone the current ISP (BT) they say FTTC is not availble. Who is wrong?

Cheers,

A

Have you tried the address checker as there may be a telephone/address disconnect in the database

Argh! tongue

So DSLchecker shows 2 different cabinets for phone number / address.

Superfast-openreach site with the phone number says it is available.

Both cabinets are enabled for FTTC.

I suspect that your property is connected to Cabinet 26 even though Cabinet 53 is nearer. It might be that you're too far from Cabinet 26 to receive FTTC.

Your postcode is covered by P26/P53 on the Antrim exchange and also P5 (on the Kells exchange).

Darn.

Cheers for the info. BT did say they would query with Openreach anyway. Email expected early next week.

Do you have any info on BALLYCLARE, Cabinet 21?

Cheers all,

A

Ballyclare Cabinet 21 was enabled for FTTC back in 2011.

Do any of your neighbours have FTTC? You need to be moved to the P53 cabinet I suspect, which might prove tricky (but not impossible).

Thanks for that, different friend, similar issue. DSLchecker says no FTTC, as do ISPs.

The house immediatly beside (10metres) is reporting as Antrim Cab 54 (not 53) and also no FTTC on dslchecker, but the phone number of that property also reports positively on superfast-openreach.co.uk.

Fun.
