21C WBC ADSL2+ Complete national Roll out.

Is there now a date when WNTRB should to be upgraded to 21CN (ADSL2+)?

Also SWRLS (Rhydlewis) please!

As they are all supposed to be upgraded by the end of next year (I think they mentioned 2018), I would think that plans are now being made for the 20CN exchange upgrades to 21CN.

Would be a boost for our slow ADSL Max lines maybe! (especially as we're on long EO lines).

Many thanks.

Kind regards,

Adam.

BT Wholesale operates the WBC network so question to be asked of them...

Likely as fingers have been burnt when dates have had to shift for other roll-outs that they get less flack now by giving no real precision to any dates - leaving people guessing rather than complaining when a date shifts

Indeed Mr S, my local exchange (NSICL) was in the first batch of 500 exchanges due to be upgraded to 21CN in June 2017, however the BT checker is now showing as Feb 2018. If/when it happens, I might take out an el-cheapo ADSL2+ line on BT as a backup.

Well at least you have a date. There is nothing showing for the exchange I was interested in. Fortunately Vodafone FTTC does not cost much more that what I might have to pay for ADSL.

I wonder if anyone knows anything about rural exchanges on the Isle of Skye such as NSSUN / Struan.

EO ADSL Max is all that's currently available.

Between 1-31 March 2018

Edit: You're possible due to get FTTC this year. Cabinet 4 is being connected (expected completion within 4 months) and Cabinets 2, 3 and 5 are under evaluation.

It's unlikely your exchange will be upgraded for ADSL2+ due to the size/location. When you get upgraded to superfast, it's more likely there will be a handover exchange that supports WBC services.

You can email hidigital@hient.co.uk to see if they have any plans yet for superfast broadband in your area.

Just out of interest: any info on upgrading the Rhydlewis exchange (code: SWRLS) to 21CN?

I'm on an EO line, so no FTTC/FTTP availability, and an upgrade from ADSL Max to ADSL2+ would provide a welcome boost! smile

Many thanks...

Kind regards,

Adam.

Any upcoming dates should be in the BT Wholesale DSL Checker - www.dslchecker.bt.com

If a date isn't given, it's not in the current rollout plans.

Seems frustrating the lack of information WSSAQ has now been scheduled to be done in a month for over a year.

Vodafone FTTC is very much the same price as ADSL would cost so at the moment I use them. The exchange I am connected to does not yet offer ADSL2+ but Ofcom have reclassified it as Market A so Plusnet FTTC would be a similarly priced alternative at least for an initial contract.

Do you really mean Market A? Meaning it used to be Market B? Plusnet is costly on Market A.

You are right I should have said it was reclassified as Market B.
