Has BTw Lowered Default NM to 1.5 dB on ADSL?

[link to this post]

I've been running at 17 Meg on ADSL2+ for ages on a default target NM of 3 dB.

2 days ago BB went down completely for half hour. When it came back it was running at 19 Meg on a target NM of 1.5 dB. Since then it has run faultlessly w/out any errors or discons.

So has BTw reduced the default target NM?

Could be a 'one off' sync.
Try restarting and re-check the TSNRM...

I could but why bother when it's going faster with no errors? I'll just wait for the next re-sync.

No they haven't changed the default target.

Likely some kind of work on the MSAN at the exchange.
Your line may have simply synced before other lines so there was less crosstalk at the time of sync.
You sync at 3dB at a higher connection speed then as the other crosstalkers connect it knocks your current SNRM down.

Like you say if errors are still low then enjoy the benefit and leave as it.
It will almost certainly return to normal at the next resync.

I would say John is right here, though 1.5 dB worth of crosstalk is a lot on ADSL, you must be on a big exchange!
