Want to leave,need help

[link to this post]

Hi all,
I'm fed up with Bulldog/Pipex and was looking to move to Sky but we are fully unbundled and wondered what the best way is to go about the moving process? Any tips to have the process go quickly/ pain free would be apprecaited.

Find out who else does broadband via LLU on your exchange at www.samknows.com (for example, O2 and BE)

First step is to get your line back to BT - you need to call BT sales and ask for the Customer Options Team. If asked why you want them just insist on speaking to them until you get put through. Be firm.

Once you get the Options Team, you need to request a Return to Donor of the Bulldog line. BT will perform this but will require you to agree to a 1 year minimum contract for all calls. There is no charge for this, so you avoid having to pay £125 for a brand new line to be installed.

Going for the Customer Options Team rather than anyone at BT should mean that you get no hassles with the RTD.

On the day your RTD takes effect your phone and broadband will go dead for a while, and your phone will eventually come back on. Now you can order Broadband from a new supplier. I was able to order that evening - but some people have found they've had to wait until the next working day for the BT database to update on the line ownership.

Good luck on whatever you decide.

Hi there,

Once I have phoned BT Options and asked for a RTD how long does it roughly take for the phone line to change back over?

Cheers,

my advice? get a 3G dongle so at least you can browse, facebook etc in the meantime smile
