No upload on Demon Internet

[link to this post]

Hi,

I've just come across this post/thread. I've started having problems with my internet connection too starting Sat morning. I can connect to the internet and I can browse no problem, although my GMail stutters when trying to send an email. But for some reason I just cannot upload anything. I've tried the Broadband Speedtests and my download speed is roughly 3Mbps but when it comes to the upload test it stops and cannot upload. I have a Speedtouch USB Modem and the icon in the notification area shows traffic coming and going. I've tried to upload photos and videos and just nothing. I'm running XP and I'm on Demon Internet.

Has anyone else had these problems or is it my equipment?

Cheers

Mike

the problem is unusual. Can't be many left on USB modems though. What upstream connection speed does it show.

If you close all your internet apps does the indicator still show a lot of upload ? How about on the network tab of Task Manager (Ctrl/[censored]/Esc)

Do you have a software firewall v? Scanned for malware recently with at least two tools ?

Thanks for the reply. No, I don't suppose there are many left on USB modems. Just never needed the option of upgrading to a router.

It doesn't show, as far as I'm aware, an upload speed, just a connection speed. Which is normally 6.3Mbps. I shall check the upload indicator tonight once all internet apps are closed down to see what shows, and the network tab of the Task Manager.

Yes, I am running Windows Defender for Firewall and AVG for AV. Scanned on Saturday using Spybot S&D

http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/frogstats.php scroll down to find Speedtouch 330 for info on collecting stats.

Upstream may drop as low as 64k without losing connection.

upstream speed is presumably 448 then ? (high send margin)

how about the traffic flows with no internet apps open. Do you use Skype ?

Log states:-

UpstreamMaxBitRate= 448000

I don't use Skype but running BitTorrent quickly shows an upload speed of 8.8kbps against a file.

I can FTP through the browser too.
