The cat doesn't like the camera

[link to this post]

She keeps Giving me the evil eye.

Go easy on her though. After a few practice shots, she decided there might be some gravy or cream as a reward, so she behaved.

So it seems cats and flash units don't mix. Or is it cameras and 13-yo cats with middle age spread? smile

Cats' eyes are differently constructed to ours. They have a layer of reflective cells to maximise night vision, hence the eerie effect.

She's a pretty cat, though.

As Tina says, it is a property of their eyes ...

You can always edit (Photoshop) them after just to tone them down a little.

Nah, I like them (the eyes) in those pics. They're not good pics anyway. Just seeing if it was possible to get a flash to work with a cat in any situation. I tried all sorts of settings with that lot.

As you have all said, it's a cat thing. Foxes too, I imagine.

Do you have a red laser pointer?

If so, drive the cat crazy, she will spend hours chasing it round!

That's the default mode for a cat.

At least, the cat thinks it is tongue

Not sure about that. She doesn't react to wrist watch light spots or her own reflection. Some do apparently.
