Sort of on topic!

Applying the old trick of looking at the output from an infra-red TV remote controller through a digital camera to see if it's working, I attempted to check a remote control using my Samsung NX1000.

Nothing was visible even after changing batteries in the controller, so I tried the test with my older Panasonic TZ65. This one clearly showed the output from the controller so why would one camera play the game and the other, not?
