Software convert .WMV file so can play on normal DVD player

[link to this post]

I'm looking for a suitable utility to convert an 8 minute .WMV file so it can be played on an ordinary DVD player. I've no idea what sort of DVD player the school where it will be played has so I would expect to be able to create file(s) that can go in the VIDEO_TS folder of a video DVD.

There seems to be many such utilities, but I've no way really assessing the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Any useful suggestions?

Do you know for sure that it is required on a DVD? All schools in my area have Interactive Whiteboards with PCs hooked up to them. A .wmv might be OK 'as is'.

I've been asked if the school can play the DVD. As I have no direct contact with the school I've no idea what equipment the school have, I do know they want to play it in an assembly.

It's very likely they'll have DVD playing equipment, the email I've received refers to DVD, hence my OP.

I've just found there's a utility on Windows 7 - Windows DVD Maker - that does exactly what I needed.

I've run it, burned the DVD, and successfully played it on our home DVD player.

Ah well, something else learned this evening grin

I bet my life it'll just be a windows XP or 7 computer you use to present on, hooked up to a smartboard or a projector. Of course DVD will work on anything

The school have now finished with the DVD so whatever format they could have used DVD format was fine.
