Is there a quicker way of doing this (with GIMP)?

Cut a portion of text from a document/image with coloured background
Copy to Paint, using the eraser erase the background colour, say to white
Then erase the background colour from in between & behind letters
Copy into required document so it looks professional?

Thank you

Print a sreenshot and scan via OCR into Word.

Might be easier!

Was Eclipse Home Option 1, VM 2Mb & O2 Standard
Now Utility Warehouse (up to 16mbps) via Talk Talk

If they have word then the picture tools in word can be very good at removing backgrounds.
