[link to this post]

Hi,

I have just got an O2 branded Thomson TG585v7. Where can I get a standard firmware (ie. non O2 branded) for this baby?

thanks

I'm beginning to think there may not actually be any officially released firmware... ;-(

What do you think drives a standard ST 585v7? Just 'cos it ain't available for download (damn you Thomson) does not mean it has not been released .

Cheers

Ive got the firmware for 585v7 generic. its on http://www.ipstore.us/info_support.html
but cant get the firmware upgrade to work. dont know if i`m using the wrong upgrade wizard, or the process. I`ve upgraded a couple of netgear sky routers to standard routers, just wondered if its the same process

TG585v7 firmware is available here;
http://www.thomson.net/GlobalEnglish/SelfService/dsl-modems-download/Pages/default.aspx

There is 7.4.4.7 generic, and 7.4.k.3 for Be and O2.
My router has the O2 7.4.k.3 version which shows as 7.4.20.3 if you log into the router.

The Thomson upgrade wizard can be found here;
http://ipstore.us/software/upgrade_wizards/thomson_upgrade_wizard2.0.zip

I haven't upgraded to the 7.4.4.7 as my router seems to be working fine, and you can access all the settings by logging in as SuperUser anyway.

Here's my line stats

I don;t think 7.4.4.7 is newer ... it's older

The 7.4.k.3 maps to 7.4.20.3

i think the 20 comes from 9+(letter of alphabet) ie a is 10, b is 11 etc.

You see this with the 780WL firmware too there 6.2.R is actually 6.2.27

You are probably right, but one is branded O2 the other not.

Like I said, logging in as SuperUser gives you all the access you had before iirc from my ST585v6 I used to ow.=n.

I used these files which I have now uploaded. This has the latest upgrade wizard, and the latest beunlimited firmware (which is already in the build folder) which is pretty much identical to standard speedtouch firmware. It is MUCH better than the O2 firmware ;-) I set a static IP (192.168.1.100) on my PC, authenticated as SuperUser/O2Br0ad64nd, and I used XP - went smooth as butter!
