Re: Just cannot upgrade/downgrade ST585V6

Given the sticker on the bottom shows speedtouch 585 V6, I am fairly sure it is a v6 :-)

Don't think it is tied to any provider as it was quite happy with my @adsl.enta.net username.

My 585v6 doesn't have the (QN) at the end of board type - you may have a 585i

If you download the manual here (if you don't have it) page 9 says
In reply to:

Variants The SpeedTouch™ comes in two ADSL flavours:
The ADSL POTS variant: The SpeedTouch™585 connects to an analogue Plain
Old Telephone Service (POTS) line.
The ADSL ISDN variant: The SpeedTouch™585i connects to an Integrated
Service Digital Network (ISDN) line, enabling residences with an ISDN line to
use the ADSL service.
The POTS variant supports ADSL, ADSL2, ADSL2+, and RE-ADSL. The ISDN variant
supports ADSL and ADSL2.
You can easily identify your variant by checking the product name printed on the
identification label on the bottom of your SpeedTouch™.
!
Use only the SpeedTouch™ variant which is appropriate for the DSL service
provided to your premises.

Now if you do have the 585i version it must use different firmware

But it connects fine to adsl, no problems and every thing seems fine bar the dns.
If it was the isdn version then it wouldn't sync to adsl would it????

I even had dmt running and it was monitoring the snr fine.
I could run an internal dns server but if nslookup fails to find the dns servers wouldn't it as well?

The adsl is carried the same way over an adsl on isdn service, with the exception there are a few more filtered freqency ranges to allow the ISDN service and siganlling traffic.

You can use a Cisco ADSL over ISDN card on a UK PSTN line so I suspect you can use an adsl over isdn router in the same way. Still doesn't answer your dns question tho.

Oh and you can't have adsl on an isdn line in the UK in case anyone is in doubt. It was trialled by NTL but they gave it up. BT just don't do it.

try this firmware

http://www.speedtouchforum.de/viewtopic.php?p=8358#8358

for 585iv6

hazarding a guess http://www.speedtouchforum.de/Daten/FW/585iv6/6.1.0.5/ZZQIAA6.105.bin 6.1.0.5 is probably the last DMT compatible firmware for that router.

Tried those firmwares all ready, got a newer version of the update client but same problem.

Looks like I will just have to give up on it.
