Router problem.

[link to this post]
I am having some problems with my Netgear DG834PN. I am using the latest DGTEAM firmware. Latley I have noticed that when I boot my PC in the morning
and try and surf, web pages do not load, and I dont seem to be able to connect to any sites. I have checked the stats page on my router, and it tells me
that I am connected and gives the up and down connection speed. The only way that I can acces the web again is to reboot my router. This problem occurs
most mornings when I first turn my PC on. Has anyone got any advice or ideas as to how this problem can be fixed? Thanks for any help with this.

Are you with O2/Be and leave the router connected overnight?

Hi there. Yes I am with BE., and I do leave my router on 24/7. I am not sure what is causing this problem.

There appears to be an intermittent problem with DNS on BE/O2 that affects netgear routers mostly. Dns resolution stops working for short periods. Switching DNS providers between Be/O2 and OPENDNS fixes it until you need to switch back.

It's a well-known problem with Netgears on O2/Be. Started a few months ago after DSLAM firmware upgrades frown.

Oliver341 is the expert, and James at ADSL24 provided a modified firmware as well. I'll look for details later.

However what I do when it happens is go to 192.168.0.1 >> ADSL settings then click "Apply".

As soon as that completes, a few seconds, everything is fine again. So it doesn't worry me much.

See my second reply to the OP just before this one

If you would like to post your line stats someone may be able to help.

More importantly, with possible noise margin trouble it is a good idea to download either RouterStats or RoutersStats Lite and monitor it- see Useful Links on my website. I find the full version a pain to set up, scroll down the vlowen page to the Lite version - that's dead easy - I run it 24/7. Also I suggest turning on the log to file option.

The combination of stats and knowing what is going on with the margin may let us sort you out. I assume you have already done things like checking ring wires, extension leads and so on? Again see various places on my website.

Yep, that's the first thread. A mod closed it for some reason so it continues here.

Ah - here we are - the ADSL24 firmware fix. But of course that's no use to the OP as he is on DGTeam.

The Oliver341 usolicit may work, which is what is built into the ADSL24 f/w to preserve it through a router reboot.

I think I'll stick with my method smile.

Hi guys. Thanks very much for your help and replies. I will look in to all your suggestions over the next few days and see how I get on. I will also post my line stats in the next day or so for you to have a look at, and give your opinions. Thanks once again.
